Leaf mulch great way to recycle leaves, Not just for compost, Leaves don’t belong in the landfill, Brown gold

I have not raked leaves to the street for city collection in years.

Why? It would be like throwing money away. Stupid.

Leaves, brown gold, are not just for composting.

They make great mulch.

I generally shred mine up with the electric lawnmower but since most of my leaves are from a Willow Oak, they are small to begin with.

Another great thing about mulching with leaves is that they will eventually decompose and return to the soil.

The Bell Pepper in the photo was from last year’s crop and was kept alive in the bay window over the winter. All of the pepper plants kept inside bore fruit all winter and provide a head start on this season’s harvest.
