VAWT wind turbine model 2 portable size test, Base and stators from repurposed ceiling fan motor, Electrical output to be tested soon, Much learned already
Yesterday, the new VAWT wind turbine model 2 portable size was tested in minimal winds.
It was built on the base of a repurposed ceiling fan motor using its stators.
Much has already been learned.
It has been proven that the ceiling fan motor can be used with external magnets on a rotor.
PVC pipe was ok for initial testing but will be replaced with something lighter, especially as the designs morphs for better portability.
Testing on electrical output will begin soon.
Since the ceiling fan portion only takes up about 6 inches of the 12 inch diameter, more stators and magnets can be added.
